Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, bringing the latest version of iOS to devices going back several generations. The compatibility list still includes the iPhone 11 family, although newer AI-powered features have stricter hardware requirements. So, which iPhones can run iOS 27? Which older models have finally been left behind?

The iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are not included in the iOS 27 compatibility list. This makes the iPhone 11 generation the oldest standard iPhone lineup still supported by Apple's latest operating system.
Does Every iOS 27 iPhone Get the Same Features?
No. Being able to install iOS 27 does not automatically mean that every feature is available on your device. Apple Intelligence and Siri AI have more demanding hardware requirements than the operating system itself.
Apple Intelligence is available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as the iPhone 16 series and newer compatible models. Older devices such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 can still run iOS 27 but do not receive the full set of AI-powered features. Feature availability may also vary depending on region, language and device hardware. This is worth checking if a specific iOS 27 feature is the main reason you are planning to update.

How to Check for iOS 27 on Your iPhone
On a compatible iPhone, open Settings > General > Software Update. If iOS 27 is available for your device, the download and installation option will appear on this screen. Make sure you have enough free storage and a recent backup before starting the update.
Support for the iPhone 11 means Apple is keeping devices released several years ago on its latest major operating system. At the same time, newer AI features are creating a clearer divide between older and more recent iPhones. Is your current iPhone still supported by iOS 27?
